Circuit Board labels are available in two types of material: Thermal Transfer Gloss White Polyester Film and Thermal Transfer Gloss White Polyimide Film. While both materials are widely used in the electronics industry, each has its distinct features.

Gloss White Polyester Film (CBL)

Able Label offers most of our CBL products using a top coated white glossy polyester label with excellent abrasion, smudge, and harsh chemical resistance. The material will not shrink and performs best on the topside of a circuit board where heat exposure is limited.

• Adhesive
  • High-performance permanent acrylic adhesive.
• Applications
  • Used for name plates, rating plates, serial identification labels, barcode labels, and electronic component marking in the automotive, electronics, and industrial business sectors.
• Printing
  • Use Resin Ribbons - Please contact us for more information.
• Application Temp.
  • Minimum Application Temperature +50°F on most surfaces, Service Temperature Ranges -40°F to +302°F.
• Shelf Life
  • The shelf life of Gloss White Polyester Film Circuit Board Labels (CBL) is two years when stored between +45-90°F and 20-75% relative humidity.

Gloss White Polyimide Film (PCBL)

Gloss White Polyimide film offers excellent chemical and superior high heat resistance, along with exceptional resistance to harsh PCB cleaning solvents. The material will not curl and is designed to survive high temperatures of lead-free solder processes. Gloss White Polyimide labels can withstand multiple passes through inline and batch cleaning processes; very good resistance to most fluxes, and performs well through most lead and lead-free re-flow processes.

  • 2.0 mil high-performance permanent acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.
• Applications
  • Used in in-process circuit board labeling in the medical, electronics, and industrial business sectors.
• Printing
  • Use Resin Ribbons (Able Label SDR or SDR-5).
